At Christ Church the children are very much part of the family. So we begin all our services together for singing, prayers and the Bible reading. The children are then invited to join in the various Sunday school groups to look at the Bible in a relevant, engaging and interactive way. In our younger groups we use story telling, drama, crafts and games. The older groups engage in Bible studies to encourage and equip them to begin to read the Bible for themselves.
A crèche is available during each service, where children can be left to play, listen to stories and enjoy a drink and biscuit. The only exception is during family services. We don’t mind a little extra noise at these service and encourage parents to keep little ones with them. If, however children become too restless, or need to escape, the crèche room is always available with the service relayed through so parents don’t need to miss anything.
Crèche is available for children under the age of 3. Sunday school groups run for children aged 3-7, 7-11 and 11-14. The two younger Sunday school groups tend to work through different books of the Bible, whilst the older group studies the passage that is being taught to the adults in the sermon.
A crèche is available for pre-school children. There are Sunday school groups for children in reception to year 4 and year 5-Year 8. The younger group answers big questions such as "What is God like?", "How should God’s people live?", "Why should people pray?" The older group studies the passage that is being taught to the adults in the sermon.
During half terms and holiday periods there is no crèche, but pre-school children are welcome to join the younger Sunday school group to look at a simple Bible story, or watch a Bible based DVD such as "What’s in the Bible?"
