What to Expect
We know you may have questions about how church works, or what it’s like to be in a service
What are the differences between the services?
The Sunday services are identical in that we sing God’s praise, pray, and listen to God’s word, and have Sunday School. In the morning the chairs are laid out in a traditional style and after the service people stay on for drinks and biscuits as we catch up with each other and chat to visitors. In the afternoon the service is in a more informal setting as we sit around tables with tea, coffee, and juice, and again stay on afterwards to get to know each other better. So, choose the time and style which suits you best. You will be very welcome to join us at either service.
I do not usually go to church, can I still come along?
Yes, everyone is welcome, whether you are a Christian or just want to know more about the Christian faith. Coming to church and experiencing the life of the church family is the best way of understanding who Jesus is, and why people follow Him. We would love to meet you.
Do you have wheelchair access?
Yes, there is easy access via the main entrance, and we are always happy to adjust the flexible seating to accommodate wheelchairs. There is a disabled toilet. In Communion services the bread and wine can be brought to you if required.
My eyesight is not what it was. Is everything in large print?
Large print Bibles and service sheets are available. Just ask at the door.
Do I have to put money in the collection?
No. We do not take a collection at our services. We are supported by the generous giving of the church family and do not seek contributions from visitors. Regulars tend to give through standing orders or online giving which helps us to budget more accurately, but there is a gift box at the back of church where gift aid envelopes are also available.

What should I wear?
It is with our hearts not our clothes that we honour God. Wear the clothes in which you feel most comfortable.
Can I bring my children?
Yes! You will find lots of children and young people at our services. During most services we have a manned crèche and Sunday school for primary school age children, and whilst we do not mind a little noise from the little ones you are welcome to use the crèche if they become restless. Baby changing facilities are available. All our leaders are DBS checked and have up to date safeguarding training.
Where should I park?
There is a small gated car park at the church. Otherwise, people park in the railway station car park in front of the church or on the surrounding roads. If you are unfamiliar with the area you may wish to arrive a little earlier to be sure of a convenient space.
How can I meet people?
If you stay on after the service for drinks, you will find us a friendly bunch, keen to get to know you better. One of the best ways to feel part of the church is to join one of the many small groups. Or if the time suits you, come along at Noon on a Wednesday (during term time) for a free lunch at our Station Café.
What happens at a Communion service?
We take communion once a month towards the end of the service. We eat bread and drink wine together to remember Jesus’ death and resurrection. We invite all who love Jesus to take communion.
You’ll be invited to walk to the front of the church with the other people in your row or at your table. We stand and receive the bread and the wine in turn. The person giving the bread will say a few brief words to you as they give it to you. You can say Amen if you wish and then eat the bread. The person giving the wine will do the same.
We use non-alcoholic wine and gluten free bread. If you are uncomfortable sharing the common cup, we offer individual cups containing juice and a wafer (please note, the wafer is not gluten free).
